Screening of the documentary Stolen Education followed by Q&A with producer Dr. Enrique Alemán Jr. Stolen Education is a powerful documentary about how Mexican American students were segregated by race and had to attend three years of first grade to overcome their "language problem" in Driscoll, Texas in the 1950s. It also covers the subsequent landmark court case in 1956, in which eight of the children who were being retained had to testify when they were only eight and nine years old. Dr. Enrique Alemán is Assistant Vice President for Student Equity & Diversity and Associate Professor at the University of Utah.
