Leadership Film Series: Dinner and a Movie

When:
Tuesday, October 07, 2014 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Where:
LBJ Student Center Room 3-15.1
Description:

The Leadership Film Series offers an opportunity to observe leadership in action and relate it to one's own leadership style. Following each film, a panel of students, faculty, and staff will engage the audience in a discussion of the film's leadership lessons and implications. We will be screening The Great Debaters, a drama based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College (Texas), who, in 1935, inspired students to form the school's first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in the national championship. Audiences will examine the ways in which education and communication, as depicted in the film, can work together to create safer and more inclusive environments in their communities.
