Carol Adams: The Sexual Politics of Meat
- Monday, October 27, 2014 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
- Evans Auditorium
In The Sexual Politics of Meat Slide Show, Carol J. Adams offers a provocative and dynamic presentation of the ideas that she has been developing for over twenty-five years. The slide show is constantly updated to track changes in popular culture, and it explores the way that culture presents images of race, gender, and species to further oppressive attitudes. It also suggests forms of resistance against the construction of individuals, human or non-human, as “meat.” The Sexual Politics of Meat Slide Show has been presented on campuses across the country. From Oregon to Maine, from experimental schools to universities with slaughterhouses on their campus, from Yale Law School to CalTech, the slide show attracts a diverse audience and prompts spirited discussions.
