Dr. Joseph Brown will deliver the keynote address at the Sixth Annual International Research Conference for Graduate Students hosted by The Graduate College. He received his BS degree in physics from Texas State University and a ScM degree in biomedical engineering from Brown University in 1990.  After working for IBM as a marketing representative, he received his Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University in the year 2000.  Dr. Brown’s graduate work focused on the influence of stereotypes and prejudice on the intellectual identities and performance of minorities and women.  He taught at the University of Washington for about two years and in January 2003 he returned to Stanford to work on graduate diversity.  He also lectures in the department of Psychology. Dr. Brown has received many awards and fellowships and presented numerous papers at conferences.
