Latino Immigration and the American Dream
- Wednesday, November 04, 2015 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
- Centennial Hall Room 157
The growth of Latino immigration from Latin America to the U.S. is an important development in American history. Every year many emigrate from their countries fleeing from violence and political persecution in their native homeland with the hope of seeking freedom in America. This event will include a film screening of El Norte by Gregory Nava. It is a story of two indigenous youths who flee Guatemala in the early 1980s due to ethnic and political persecution of the Guatemalan Civil War. Invited guest speaker: Arturo Arias.
