Journalist and author Domingo Martinez will focus on the social value and significance of completing a college degree, the consequences of living without one, and how it can change your options and sense of self-worth. Martinez draws from personal experiences and those of his family. A native of Brownsville, Texas, he will include observations and advice for students from South Texas who are usually the first in their families to attend college. Martinez is the author of the critically acclaimed, best-selling memoir and National Book Award finalist, The Boy Kings of Texas. He is currently writing the script for the HBO original series based on The Boy Kings of Texas, produced by Salma Hayek’s production company, Ventanarosa. This is a Mass Comm Week 2015 event.
