Japanese Cinema Club Presents: Branded to Kill
- Wednesday, March 02, 2016 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
- Centennial Hall Room G01
Japanese Cinema Club presents Seijun Suzuki's Branded to Kill. The pop-noir cult-classic uses surrealism and radical filmmaking to explore emotion versus purpose. Branded to Kill had a lasting impact on American directors such as Jim Jarmusch and Quentin Tarantino. Central themes include absurdism, obsession, censorship, and psychosexuality. This screening is the fifth in a series of Japanese new wave films being shown in an attempt to connect the Texas State audience with the art, history, and development of modern Japanese society.
