A Night of Real Life Stories: They Sacrificed Everything for Our Country...Did Our Country Pay Them Back?

Description:

This event recognizes the sacrifices and values of many Texan servicemen and servicewomen and hopes to bring awareness to younger generations of the ordeals these individuals had to overcome and the dedication they demonstrated. We will address veterans' contributions and struggles many faced after they served their country, from WWII to the present. Some of the topics will include: the G.I. Bill and the Hazlewood Act. We will also address topics related to African-American, Native American, Mexican-American and undocumented servicemen and servicewomen. Speakers from various backgrounds will share some of their experiences. During the event, we will screen short scenes from different documentaries related to this topic.
