BLPC | New Play Development: Black Super Hero Magic Mama

The Department of Theatre and Dance annually sponsors the Black and Latino Playwrights Conference that includes professional guest directors and actors, auditions, 3-5 days of open rehearsals and in-class presentations by guest artists culminating in staged reading performances open to the campus and community.

1-5 p.m.: Writer's Workshop in Theatre Center Room 209.

7:30 p.m.: First New Play Development reading presentation for "Black Super Hero Magic Mama" on the Theatre Center Mainstage. Audience talkback immediately following.

About "Black Super Hero Magic Mama": Sabrina Jackson cannot cope with the death of her son by a white cop. Rather than herald the Black Lives movement, Sabrina retreats inward, living out a comic book super hero fantasy. Will she stay in this dream world or return to reality and deal with her loss?
