Constitution Day and Citizenship Day Events

When:
Thursday, September 15, 2016 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Where:
Alkek Library Teaching Theater
Description:

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is an American federal observance recognizing the adoption of the U.S. Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens by birth or naturalization. It is normally observed on Sept. 17, the day the Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787 in Philadelphia. Because Sept. 17 falls on a weekend this year, educational programs are presented the week preceding or following. Texas State University will host Dr. William E. Forbath, Associate Dean for Research and Lloyd M. Bentson Chair in Law, University of Texas School of Law, for a lecture on the topic of The Anti-Oligarchy Constitution on Thursday, September 15, 2016, 7:30-9 p.m. in Alkek Library Teaching Theater. Additionally, Student Government will be at the Quad on Sept. 15, distributing pocket U.S. Constitutions to students, and they will have a voter's registration drive.
