Listopad (Czech Republic, 2014) is a story of the spirited friendship between three teenaged boys swept up in the "Velvet Revolution" of 1989. Based upon true stories of political and artistic courage, Listopad brings to life the exhilarating days of November 1989 when students, artists, and dissidents filled the streets of Praha to stand up for their hopes and dreams of freedom. The film emphasizes universal themes and struggles related to war, armed conflict, revolution, and life under a dictatorship. Audience members will have the opportunity to consider the impact of armed struggle in Central Europe in the recent past and speak with the film's producer, Jeffrey Brown, who will be in attendance for a Q&A following the screening. Brown, a native Texan, lived and worked in the Czech Republic for twenty years.
