Exhibit Reception | Views of Bethlehem, Then and Now

Description:

The public is invited to attend the reception for the exhibit, "Views of Bethlehem, Then and Now" — a collection of vintage photographs from Harvard University collections (taken 1860-1920) paired with contemporary photographs taken by Al-Rowwad Cultural Center in Aida refugee camp’s youth photography program. Featured will be a gallery talk by scholar/curator Jeffrey Spurr, retired Middle East & Islamic Specialist at Harvard University's Fine Arts Library; a presentation titled "Construction, Demolition, and the Control of Space," by Ricky Schneider, International Studies grad student; Debke dancing, led by Mohammed Al-Rousan, Muslim Student Association President; and Palestinian food. This display and reception are part of the Walkers' Gallery "Portals and Walls" exhibit of artwork by area artists.
