Artists in Time of War: Reflections on Howard Zinn and the Artist's Role in Civil Discourse
- Thursday, April 27, 2017 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
- Lampasas Room 501
Art professor Roger Colombik introduces an eclectic range of creative thinkers whose actions continue to make a significant contribution to our society's capacity to understand and build a more empathetic, compassionate, and intelligent community. Howard Zinn delivered his lecture, "Artists in Times of War," shortly after 9/11, and his message is multi-faceted, touching upon patriotism, the constitution, protest and dissent, and an artist's responsibility to society. Zinn's essay is a catalyst for discussing the importance of maintaining our capacity for constructive dialogue and our ability to hold opposing perspectives within the mind.
