TB Skin Testing Outreach

Tuesday, January 16, 2018 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Student Health Center Second Floor Conference Room, 202

The Student Health Center at Texas State University will be holding TB Skin Testing outreaches during the spring semester. The testing will take place in the Student Health Center Conference Room on the second floor. Insurance is accepted. Students must bring their insurance card with them. The cost of the test is $20 if the student is uninsured or out of network.

It is important for students to know and understand that after receiving a TB skin test, they MUST come back within 48-72 hours to obtain the TB reading. Students who are tested on Tuesday must return on Thursday or Friday for their TB reading and students who are tested on Wednesday must return on Friday.

Students who would like to get a TB test prior to the outreach can call the Health Center at (512) 245-2161 to schedule an appointment between semesters. We are now open for the semester.

QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QFT®) is another form of TB testing that is offered at the Student Health Center. It is a simple blood test that aids in the detection of the bacteria which causes tuberculosis (TB). Unlike the TB skin test, it requires only a single patient visit to draw a blood sample. Results can be available within 48 hours. Students who want to make an appointment for the blood test can call the Student Health Center at (512) 245-2161. Faculty members who want to schedule a group of students for the blood test should contact Debbie Karajankovich atd_k67@txstate.edu.

$20. Insurance is accepted.
